TRTCC Upcoming Practices, Nov. 20 – 24 and Annual Sangha Meeting

Dear Dharma Friends,

Our Wednesday evening yidam practice is Medicine Buddha this week. Thursday evening at 7pm is our introductory class on The Four Noble Truths. Saturday is Vajrasattva practice at 9am. This Sunday we will be offering King of Aspiration Prayers and Achi Chokyi Drolma practice and meditation at 10am.

The TRTCC Annual Sangha Meeting will be held this year on Sunday, December 15. We will have a vegetarian potluck lunch following a short break after practice. At the meeting the board will talk about what we have accomplished over the last year and what we hope to accomplish in years to come. There will be time for feedback from attendees and open discussion. Everyone is welcomePlease RSVP here and let us know if you’ll be attending and if you are able to bring a vegetarian dish, fruit, or healthy snack to share.

He is often depicted as wielding a flaming sword in the right hand which cuts through ignorance, attachment, and delusion, and holding in the left hand a lotus flower containing the Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, the Sutra of the Perfection of (Transcendent) Wisdom.  Join us on Zoom.

TRTCC Upcoming Practices, Oct 30 – Nov 3 + Visiting Gelug Nuns

Dear Dharma Friends,

Our Wednesday evening yidam practice is Chenrezig this week. Saturday is Vajrasattva practice at 9am. This Sunday we will be offering King of Aspiration Prayers and Jigten Sumgon Guru Yoga practice and meditation at 10am.

On this Sunday, November 3rd, two Tibetan nuns from the Jangchub Choeling nunnery in the Gelug lineage will be visiting TRTCC and joining our regular practice in the morning.  They are Ani Choyang and Ani Choedon.  Ani Tenzin Choyang received the Rapjampa Degree (similar to a master’s degree) in 2022 after completing a 17-year course of Buddhist studies.  She was one of the first women to attend a two-year science-training program at Emory University as part of the Emory Tibet Science Initiative.  She also participated in a science research internship at Northwestern University in 2022, where she received training in the theory and methods of neuroscience.  She will give a short talk after our practice.  This is going to be an informal gathering and a great cultural learning opportunity.  To get to know them in person and give your support, please join us this Sunday.

In some unfortunate news, our center was broken into and ransacked last week between Wednesday evening and Saturday morning practices. There was some physical property damage, but we are thankful that it was not worse. The Swissvale police are investigating, and we are implementing some new security measures.
